Structural Kitchen Remodel in Aptos
The owners of this Aptos home loved the expanse of glass and the feeling of nature when they looked out onto their property. They wanted to use the large kitchen/dining room space for family gatherings but the awkward kitchen cabinet layout and intruding post really limited the usability.
Our design team was able to remove the post and replace it with an engineered, laminated beam that spans the kitchen ceiling creating a large, open space. An oversized island that houses a farm style sink, and plenty of cabinet space now become the focal point. The Taj Mahal honed Quartzite countertop is a single slab. The surrounding counters are of the same Quartzite material set off by a Jerusalem grey/gold tumbled marble backsplash. Transitional style cabinetry is antique white. The ceiling beams were painted the same color and beautifully complement the original cedar ceiling. The island cabinet is painted a soft grey that is set off by the beautiful plank flooring. Stainless steel appliances keep things modern, and a beverage refrigerator allows guests to serve themselves and not interfere with the cook. Pendant lights hang over the dining table. Large, round pendants are a feature in the kitchen area and sleek track lights are mounted on the new beam. Undercabinet task lighting assures a comfortable workspace.
A beautiful family kitchen with lots of light and space for generations to gather.
