CLIENT NEEDS

This property in the Soquel Hills has an impressive view from the home’s interior. The homeowners wanted to extend the outdoor pool and outdoor kitchen space.

TALMADGE SOLUTION

Not wanting to put the pool on a lower level which would lose the spectacular views and make accessibility less than ideal, our architect collaborated with a swimming pool consultant and engineers to construct the vanishing edge pool above ground. Engineered to withstand an earthquake, It sits above rainwater catchment tanks to keep rainwater for irrigation. Bluestone pavers set on pedestals make an excellent surface that minimizes slippery conditions. A full-size outdoor kitchen and wet bar is covered to keep it shady on hot days. There is plenty of outdoor space to soak up the sun on a summer day.

RESULT

An engineering feat to construct an “above ground” pool, rain water catchment irrigation system, and a beautiful outdoor kitchen all on one level. All boxes checked!
