Multi-Purpose Accessory Structure in Santa Cruz, CA

CLIENT NEEDS

These clients in Santa Cruz wanted a dedicated office space along with accommodations for visiting family and friends.

TALMADGE SOLUTION

We’ve coined the term “shoffice” for this versatile structure, which serves as a combination of a shed and office. It features a wet bar and a separate water closet for added convenience. The interior is finished with a unique limewash painting style, resembling plaster, adding a cool and textured look with depth.

The space boasts LVP flooring and custom cabinets complemented by a walnut butcher block countertop. The handmade tile backsplash beautifully matches the brushed gold fixture. For added elegance and functionality, the pocket door leading to the water closet features white laminated glass and magnetic locking hardware.

Challenge

The primary hurdle we faced was achieving the desired lime wash painting style requested by the client, which was new territory for the designer. Ensuring alignment between the owner, painter, and the designer was crucial. The painter demonstrated exceptional dedication by creating sample boards and experimenting with various color options on the walls to ensure the perfect outcome.

RESULT

The space was meticulously designed to accommodate all modern amenities and comforts required for its multi-purpose functionality. The final outcome perfectly aligns with the client’s vision and expectations. Their satisfaction with the project brings us immense joy and reaffirms our commitment to delivering excellence.
