CLIENT NEEDS

After severe storms in 2023 brought down several eucalyptus trees on this Capitola property, the cleanup left significant damage to the home’s 40-year-old driveway. In addition, the homeowners wanted to refresh their dated exterior, addressing necessary maintenance while giving the home a much-needed update.

TALMADGE SOLUTION

To refresh the property, we replaced the old driveway with Calstone Quarrystone pavers in a Sequoia Sandstone finish, laid in an Old Town pattern for timeless appeal. The new gates were flanked by custom columns clad in Colonial Grey River Rock, the same stone veneer—expertly installed by Drummond Masonry—that now enhances the home’s exterior. Fresh landscaping was added throughout, the perimeter fence was replaced, and the original speakeasy-style wood door was swapped out for a striking iron-and-glass entry door.

Challenge

One of the biggest challenges was selecting a stone veneer and paver combination that complemented each other seamlessly. We explored multiple options and refined the choices until the entire team and homeowners agreed on the perfect pairing.

RESULT

The transformation gave the property a completely refreshed exterior. What once felt cold, dark, and uninviting now feels warm, bright, and welcoming—dramatically enhancing the home’s curb appeal with a modern yet inviting style.
