Capitola Aging In Place Bathroom

CLIENT NEEDS

As part of a kitchen remodel, this Depot Hill half bathroom was very cramped, and served as a de facto broom closet/storage room. The client was looking for an aging in place solution for their bungalow’s second bathroom.

TALMADGE SOLUTION

Gaining space for a curbless shower from a closet and hallway allowed for a full bath to be created. A full wainscotting of snow white, glossy tile in the room makes cleaning easy and keeps with the bungalow feel. Taupe/green mosaic tiles accent the entire room. A pedestal sink keeps the space open and should full wheelchair access be required, the pedestal could be removed and an accessible, wall mounted sink would remain. Rohl satin nickel fixtures were used throughout the bathroom including a rain shower head/handheld shower arm. A small amount of space between the toilet and the wall allowed for a custom linen cabinet with sliding lower doors to be tucked in.

RESULT

A bathroom that will serve the homeowners well into the future.
