“Talmadge Construction helped us do a total condo remodel in Aptos, CA! We could not have hoped for a better group of people to help us! At the time, we did not live locally and they were so responsible, trustworthy and made the project seamless. It took 5 months to wrap up the project and they adhered to the proposed timeline!

Their support also after the project is done is remarkable.

You guys rock!”

“I can’t say enough good things about Talmadge Construction. For 40 years they have been known for their 5-star quality work, business ethics, and customer service. The entire Talmadge crew is fabulous. Skilled, friendly, helpful and attentive to their clients needs and building/remodeling goals. The subcontractors they enlist to help with their projects are also 5-star. And equally important, in my opinion, is the support and hands-on help they offer to our community. Their generosity and giving spirit have benefited many, many local non-profits and individuals. WELL DONE TALMADGE CONSTRUCTION!!”

“100% Satisfaction. Talmadge met all of my expectations. We’ve been using them for smaller projects for over 30 years. When it came to this big project, we knew we wanted to use Talmadge Construction.”

“Talmadge’s quality of work and professionalism is unmatched. We appreciate the quick responses and open channels of communication. We appreciate the amount of consideration into being as cost effective as possible given the size of the job… We have very much enjoyed working with the Talmadge team!”

Talmadge Construction had excellent follow through, great communication, clear understanding of the progression of the project. I would highly recommend them. I had no doubt they would make the best choice for me when I could not be there. They are one of the most highly organized companies I have ever dealt with. Well worth working with people who do things right. They had excellent communication– 6 stars! ‘You get what you pay for.’ High quality costs more and is well worth it.

“Today I received a lovely bouquet of birthday flowers and chocolates from Mackenzies Chocolates (yummy) and I want to express my true appreciation. While I know not everyone in the “crew” had a hand in sending this gift, Jeff, I want you to know that everyone in the crew has been so kind, thoughtful and patient with me over these past months and it has been my pleasure to work with each of you on the remodel project of our home. I am grateful for your thoughtfulness.”

“As our job winds to a close, we wanted to thank you, John Anderson, and Talmadge Construction for the excellent work you have done on our home. It has been such a positive experience to work with your company. John’s professionalism has given us a sense of confidence from the very beginning on a project that caused us great concern. Everyone we have worked with from Talmadge has been great.

We also wanted you to know that Jeremiah Trask was a real joy to have here doing this work. He is obviously a true craftsman. Maybe just as importantly for us, he showed empathy for our concerns and took the time to explain everything so that we were able to understand the what, why, and how of each step of this complicated installation.

At the outset, this job was a real worry for us. When Jeremiah came on site and began putting things together, our concerns fell away. Having seen the time and expertise he took at each stage and now-looking at the beautifully finished space, we are truly grateful to have had him in our home.

We are very appreciative of how hard you work to provide top quality workmanship. In addition, John gave us an estimate of completion time at the start of our project, and you met that time frame. That is a very rare combination.”

Talmadge is an exceptional company for your home project no matter how big or small. Their team, especially Quinn and Russ are consummate professionals. Dependable, responsive, quality workmanship and dedication to getting the project completed timely and on or under budget. They treated our home as if it was their own. I would not hesitate to recommend Talmadge construction to my family and friends. They are definitely the best.

I contracted Talmadge Construction to remodel my farmhouse entryway into a working porch and mudroom. This was not your standard request, and Jeff and his crew performed beyond my expectations to assure that what they created was exactly what I wanted. They asked all the right questions, were absolutely attentive to detail, and were vigilant and exacting in providing the best quality work. Jeff sought the best craftspeople for such requests as fabricating a traditional outdoor washing sink and an installer to work with my own tile collection to lay the mudroom floor. The results are practical, beautiful, and holding up well to rugged daily use. I highly recommend Talmadge Construction.

My husband and I hired Talmadge Construction for a full house renovation of our tired 1980s townhouse and they turned it into a modern and awesome place to live – photos are on their website (Contemporary Aptos Townhouse). This was our first time remodeling and Jeff Talmadge held our hands through the initial planning and budgeting phase and remained available throughout. The design process was very smooth, every inch of space was considered, rooms were re-imagined and the perfect finishes were chosen.

During construction, our project manager was great: everything ran on time, we received weekly updates and there were no surprises. The craftsmanship was everything we hoped for and the team followed up with us until every detail was perfect. I recommend Talmadge Construction to anyone looking for a contractor in Santa Cruz county – they are friendly and helpful and will do anything to make sure you are satisfied with their work.

100% Satisfaction! The quality and service were outstanding.

Expertise: The project manager was immediately accessible by text, and coordination was flawless. Subcontractors were well-supervised and clearly chosen for their excellence.

Professional & Organized: The organization went beyond the project manager’s oversight of the subcontractors. Everything was laid out for us in detail from the first project meeting around our dining room table with Jeff and Andrew Talmadge, project manager Jeremiah Trask, and designer Kristen Totah, and continuing at the end with the photo shoot. Carin was on top of invoicing during the project.

Schedule: We finished on time, in spite of the supply chain issues that came up due to the pandemic. The project manager informed us every day what would be happening the next few days and who would be coming in to work and the approximate time they would arrive. If that changed during the day, we got a text from the project manager.

Budget: When you demolish an existing bathroom in a 50-year-old house, you hold your breath for expensive surprises hiding underneath. It’s inevitable that there will be something. The budget made allowances for “surprises” but it was always clear from the first kickoff meeting that some might exceed the estimate. Our extra charges were reasonable, unavoidable and expected.

Construction Quality: The project manager would show us and explain each part of the work before moving on.

Communication: The project manager was our sole contact once construction began. He was always accessible by text and responded immediately. He communicated with all subcontractors.

Problem Resolution: Things were planned so well that problems were minimal. They kept on top of ordering and keeping track of the delivery status with vendors, which was challenging at times with pandemic-related supply chain issues. We only had one real problem, when a plumbing item arrived from the manufacturer defective

Clean & Safe: It’s a challenge for both the homeowner and contractor when the homeowner stays in residence. We remodeled a bathroom in a previous home, and dust was everywhere. That did not happen here, and all materials and equipment were kept out of the way each evening. If materials or tools were not being used that day, they were not on site.

Value: We could have gotten other contractors for less, but we would not have had the services of a designer or any of the other extras that saved us a great deal of time and frustration. We got what we paid for and don’t regret a penny.

Trust: This comes down to good project management and communication.

Areas Of Satisfaction: Most, to be honest! One silly thing that impressed us was the consideration of our neighbors when placing the chemical toilet. It wasn’t sitting out in full view, but covered by a tasteful redwood screen and serviced weekly.”
