Lead Carpenter
This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Carpenter. As the Lead Carpenter at Talmadge Construction, you will collaborate with the Production Manager and Senior Project Manager (SPM), showcasing your top-tier carpentry skills, expertise in blueprint reading, problem-solving, scheduling, organization, and communication. You will lead and direct Talmadge staff, trade contractors, and vendors in the absence of the SPM. Additionally, you will address client inquiries, oversee site protection, ensure quality control and safety, and maintain clean and orderly job sites.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Responsibilities
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of project plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets
- Demonstrate top-tier carpentry skills adhering to company standards
- Maintain accurate timesheets, assist with time reporting, and handle change orders
- Manage project material ordering, storage, and efficient use
- Update construction-related information at the job site, including drawings and checklists
- Collaborate on estimating, planning, and scheduling during the Design phase
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance construction management and quality standards
- Assist in training carpenters and ensure adherence to safety and quality control standards
- Cultivate positive relationships with stakeholders, including design staff, trade contractors, and clients
- Review and approve project hand-off packets, initiating them for production preparation
- Address warranty service and resolve client complaints effectively
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in residential remodeling and new construction
- 2 or more years of experience as a Lead Carpenter for residential design-build remodeling projects
- Good working knowledge of related building trades and sequencing of trades
- Extensive rough and finish carpentry skills including cut-ins, and superior knowledge of construction methods and techniques
- Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis, including lifting 60 pounds and to climb a 6-foot ladder without assistance
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Valid California State driver’s license and social security number
- Pass background check without incident and drug test
